Just apply 12-15 drops of oil to any area of normal skin twice a day.
The scientific studies applied it to the nappy region; other parents have applied it to the legs or chest. Our experience is – it still works! This is particularly convenient for a baby who doesn't like having creams or oils rubbed into his or her scalp, or a mum who doesn't like having to regularly wash excess oil out of her baby's hair. We don't recommend applying the oil directly to the scales until AFTER you have tried the oil on normal skin for 10 to 14 days.
There is lots of advice on how to do this on the web. How you choose to do this will depend upon your baby's sensitivities and personality. We massaged olive oil into the scales to soften them and then gently lifted the loose scales with a fingernail. Once the scales were removed, they didn't come back... as long as we used the Starflower Oil.
If any irritation occurs, please STOP using the oil.
Once your baby's skin has lost its scaliness, you can reduce the amount of Starflower Oil you apply. The Starflower Oil will continue to protect against the reappearance of scales until your baby's skin no longer needs any help with maintaining its levels of GLA or moisture. The scaly skin associated with cradle cap usually resolves itself sometime after your baby turns 6 months old. It is easy to check if your baby's skin has passed through this stage: if the scales return when you stop applying Starflower Oil, then keep using the Starflower Oil for a bit longer. If the scales do not return then remember to tell your friends about us!
